Scarcity Mindset
The scarcity mindset is a behavioural pattern that causes people to focus on immediate needs at the expense of the future. The problem is that scarcity perpetuates scarcity. The short terms forces a tunnel vision as a result the long term is ignored.
You will not have time to prepare for the future if you are focused on getting through today. As a result, when you are busy putting out fires of today, new ones keep coming up and you get too busy putting them out.
The consequences of scarcity means that one must constantly exercise willpower. You must constantly say NO to things. The mind’s constant demand for more and better while we continually say no drains our willpower battery. As a result, we splurge, gorge, or indulge in our addiction when an opportunity arises.
The focus on the short-term means people can satisfy their pressing needs. This makes sense; people who are struggling to come up with rent are not likely to be interested in real estate investing. However, once immediate needs are met, it is important to break free from the pattern of the scarcity mindset. Take a step back to reconsider those tasks clamouring for your attention and remember to allocate energy towards the future. Many of us are kept in this hamster wheel of scarcity mindset by design. Time to break free.
🥂to long term!
