Genetically speaking, difference between chimps (our relatives) and human beings is just 2% and yet how did we get such a big brain? How come no other animal managed this kind of growth? Have you ever wondered? π€
We used ingenuity to grow our brains. Processing everything in our digestive system takes energy and our brain consumes a big chunk of that energy so all we have done is outsourced our digestion. The answer is COOKING.
When we cook a meal, we not only make it delicious but we also start the digestion process upfront. Cooking makes it easy for our body to access nutrients because the plant or animal cell is broken down with pounding or grinding or fire. We conserved energy in the body and we used energy outside(fire) to do the job π
