Social beings

Human beings are social beings!

Maslow hierarchy of needs is logical and rational but that is not how we truly are. We need the belonging and social bonding first and then comes everything else. No wonder we are struggling with social distancing in the current times of pandemic.

Look at babies, they don’t follow Maslow hierarchy of needs as prescribed. It takes many years for them to formulate their our survival, safety etc. They are dependent on the social bonds (mother) to survive. Pain of hunger we will forget quickly but pain of rejection by another human being is hard to forget for a long time.

We are social beings and hence we need our tribes to do well. Your community matters. Your belonging matters. No wonder we are moved by the ads from AirBnB 🙈
