Slowly we are getting the mindset and systems ready. Ensure all logistics are taken care. Remember you have only one body and no trouble can come in between that hampers your good health. Self care goes a long way.
Let’s talk about timelines in detail as this is a crucial step.
Awareness sucks a lot of energy. A vigilant brain makes you tired fast. It is the truth and hence enlightenment is not for everyone. I don’t want to mince words and make it sound better or different.
For a weight loss journey, it is important to be aware of a few things.
From the lens of calorie count: Your 1Kg = 7000 calories. Now you can do the math of losing it or gaining it easily. It takes about 10 days to lose 1kg if you consistently keep 700 calories down everyday. At this rate it takes about 200 days to lose 10 Kgs. That is about 6 months.
From the lens of percentages: 2% weight loss a month is sustainable. In the beginning this will be easy as some water weight will go away and give you a dopamine hit. As you progress it gets harder so keep it as sane 2% every month so you can cumulate 2 to 4 to 6 to 8 to 10 over a period of 6 months. The more the merrier but believe me it is hard to get a 10% loss in 6 months cumulative.
From the lens of calendar: It takes about 12 months to see a 15 kg loss in a sustained manner. It takes about 18 months to see a 20 kgs loss in a sustained manner. You can enhance the timeline by going aggressive but it is not sustainable. It is better to be slow and steady.
In whichever lens you look at weight loss, you need to commit 12 months to 18 months depending upon your weight loss goals. Get this timeline set in your mind. Now every slip up will accumulate on this timeline. Treats, stress, insomnia, cheat days, celebrations will cost you time. On the other hand, long walks, a good sport, a good rest, reduced workload will gain you time.
Keeping the 10days/kg as a baseline you can keep tracking how it is working for you. Knowing a project timeline sets expectations upfront. Don’t expect magic to happen in a week or month. Slowly you will see changes. You must be patient with the timeline and keep cheering the milestones.
