Fixing Movement
Now that your input quality and quantity is fixed, let us take care of your movement as well.
Your weight loss is 80% diet. You don’t have to crush it in the gym 3 hours a day. You don’t have to run a marathon to lose weight. True! Just by taking care of your input a lot of things can be fixed with your body mass. Then why should we move?
Here are some systemic factors about our body. Knowing about it helps you empathise better:
All things that have movement has a brain. Look around. Your plants don’t. Your seahorse that is stuck to a coral doesn’t. So you are given a brain to help you move. So move for your brain health. Without a healthy brain, it is hard to thrive in a knowledge economy and it is hard to keep up the mindfulness.
Your muscular system has about 320 muscle groups that make up a human body. The system is given to help us move and be active. The more we don’t move, we create muscle atrophy. If you can’t move well, in many ways the body is telling you that you are not healthy.
Our body has a bunch of interconnected levers which facilitate our movement. If you don’t have enough muscle to drive the engine, you may be restricted in movement as well. This happens when you add weight. So move to save the levers.
I can go on and on and write an entire series on our muscle groups and the beautiful system we behold. However the TL/DR version of movement is, we are born to move, and any movement is good for your body and your brain. It need not be complex. It can be just standing up, walking etc.
So here is a prescription for movement.
Every 30 mins once (you can have an alarm) stand up and stretch for 2 mins.
Morning when you wake up, start your day with a 30 mins walk.
If you can stand and do whatever work (brilliant!).Every movement counts.
Stretch Goal: Before you have your dinner/supper have another 30 mins walk.
Warning: Do not exercise with a bad core. You will harm yourself more than otherwise. Walking is safe. Don’t exercise before you get healthy.
🥂 to movement!
