Fixing Quantity
Now that you know what to eat, let us work with quantity.
Figure out a simple bowl that is your fist size. Allocate this bowl as your ingestion bowl. Stick to this bowl for everything you want to eat hereafter.
Yes, even if it is ice-cream or Maggi stick to this. Ideally your brain would have told you NO as it is >4 in our farm to fork meter but in case if it said, just once or i deserve this treat etc, go for it. Typically this bowl will hold about 4oz worth of rice. That is the size of the bowl you will allocate.
Here is my prescription for quantity and follow this to the T.
Every time you feel hungry have a glass of water. Wait 20 mins.
Whenever you are feeling hungry next go have something solid in that bowl . Just one bowl at a time. That can be right after 20 mins as well.
Wait till you are hungry again. Now have a glass of water. Wait 20 mins.
Whenever you are feeling hungry next have something else in that bowl. That can be right after 20 mins as well.
Pro Tip (Stretch Goal): If you want to be more mindful about what you eat, start with proteins (meal 1), then have veggies/salad (meal 2), then go for a bowl of fruits (meal 3), then go for some starches/grains (meal 4) and then go for proteins (meal 5), veggies (meal 6), fruits (meal 7) and grains (meal 8) etc. The order continues till you call it a day. Typical ingestion is some 6 times but if you are less or more don’t worry about it.
Pro Tip (Stretch further Goal): If you want to be even more strict and mindful then have solids between 6 am and 6 pm. Try and have a soup or a smoothie in case you feel hungry post 6 pm.
Pro Tip (Stretch further Goal): If you want to stay within farm to fork meter (less than 2), go for it.
Alternate drinking water and eating throughout the day whenever you feel hungry. To arrive at this simplicity, I worked for 3 years. Some factors and considerations behind the design are
In my qualitative research, it was clear that all thin people were not super mindful or conscious about what they eat but all of their portion sizes were lesser.
They had a quota for everything by nature. Even if it is junk they had quota for it.
They ate in small quantities through out the day when they are hungry, not because they are aware, just because their system is not able to handle it.
Sunrise and sunset seems to have an effect on our body. Trying to keep all activities including eating light after sunset seems to be how our systems are made.
This system sets the body over a period of 10 weeks and it does wonders in self healing.
